Natyacharya Documentary

Natyacharya is an independent film about a Bharathanatyam legend, it is DCAM’s debut foray into the world of independent film making. We decided to venture into creating our own content in early 2010. This film was produced, directed, scripted, shot and edited entirely by Team DCAM.

Natyacharya is a film that is based on the life of Prof. Guru M.R. Krishnamurthy, a man who has dedicated his entire life the learning and proliferation of the ancient dance form called Bharathanatyam. The film traces his connection to a very important historic figure in world of Bharathanatyam, Rukmini Devi. It explores his achievements and the dance school that he founded in 1992 called Kalakshiti. This film is still in production. Watch the teaser clip and and keep an eye on our blog section for further updates about the movie.

This was shot on a very simple setup consisting of 2 Elinchrom lights, a diffuser and a Canon 7D and a 550D. All the models in the ads were friends and family simply because we wanted to avoid professional models for this shoot, reason being, this was a “people’s campaign” (corny as that may sound, we believed that it would work... and it did!).
